The age old argument. Well, the 20th century and beyond argument: is camper camping actually camping?
Traditionalists, and the more hardcore, will, of course, say no. Their reasons will varying, but chief among them will be the argument against comfort, or excessive amenities.
It is understandable to see why someone would think this way, be it that with a camper comes a level of comfort normally not afforded to time outdoors.
The obvious counter argument is that a camper affords someone the opportunity to spend time outdoors who would normally not. Some people just do not have the desire to “rough it”. Humans are naturally creatures of comfort.
That being said, it is easy to get carried away. How? Well, if you have too many creature comforts in our camper, should you chose to go that way, may distract you from your task and purpose.
The great outdoors is a wonderful place, of this I do not have to further state. But, should you get enthralled with a large flat screen television, your laptop, and a myriad of other distractions, then what purpose did you have in heading out in the first place?
Some of those distractions do serve purpose. Some times the weather simply does not play nice. You may have the best intentions, but there is little you can do in those cases.
Of course, the obvious choice would be some low tech fun in a large tent. That just doesn’t happen anymore. It’s hard enough to go camping. It’s much harder to get people to go camping in 2019.
No one wants to spend much time together any more. Everyone is attached to their electronic devices.
If a camper is what it takes to organize a group, then to keep them comfortable and willing to go out again, then so be it.
So what if you use a camper? Better than sitting home.
